We are incredibly excited to sponsor the 2014 Golden Helix Summer School (not directly affiliated with Golden Helix, Inc. (us)), hosted on the island of Aegina, Greece, from September 11th-15th, 2014. This year’s theme is “Pharmacogenomics and Genomic Medicine: Bridging research and the clinic” and will focus on disciplines within genomic medicine.
The Golden Helix Summer School, conducted annually, is a collection of international educational activities surrounding the field of precision medicine and biomedical informatics. These activities create a unique opportunity for participants to increase their knowledge and understanding of the ever-changing field of genomic medicine, as well as discuss and nurture innovative ideas.
The educational programs during each Summer School are organized under the Golden Helix Foundation and the Genomic Medicine Alliance, providing an informative and accurate experience. Each event provides a unique curriculum which is intermingled with the social atmosphere, allowing invited speakers and students to socialize and discuss their specific research needs. A great deal of emphasis is placed on the social aspect of the event, encouraging participants to mingle with each other in an informal setting.
Over 20 internationally recognized speakers will have the opportunity to present on topics including, but not limited to:
- Pharmacogenomics
- Whole genome sequencing
- High throughput genome analysis
- Genomics research and genomic medicine
- Genome data interpretation
- Ethics in genetics
- Public health genomics
- Economic evaluation in genomic medicine.
This year the Summer School will be holding a new session that focuses on career development. During this session seven faulty members from the Golden Helix Summer School will engage in an open forum discussion about pursuing careers in the field of Genomics.
