We would like to thank everyone who participated in our 2021 t-shirt design competition. It was great to see the amount of creativity our community expressed and was certainly a tough decision to make!
We are pleased to announce this year’s winners:
First Place – Bruce Eng
For over 35 years, Bruce Eng has partnered with businesses, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations to help define communication objectives, create intelligent and effective concepts, and bring order, style, and clarity to visual materials.
After graduating from Montana State University in 1984 with a BA in Graphic Design, Bruce spent 11 years as a designer and Art Director for his alma mater. During this period he was instrumental in developing a brand identity for the newly consolidated university system which included an award-winning viewbook publication used for student recruitment.
In 1996 Bruce founded Eng DesignWorks. This venture allowed him to maintain working relationships with MSU and develop new partnerships with clients such as the Yellowstone Association, Bozeman Health Foundation, the MSU Foundation, TechLink, Johnson and Johnson Vision Care, and the Dr. Slick Company.
Bruce continues to provide graphic design expertise to select clients while feeding his multifaceted creative appetite with explorations in photography, drawing, painting, woodworking, and product design. He may also be found playing in the mountains with family, friends, and their spirited Labrador Flint.
Second Place – Clàudia Serra Vinardell
Clàudia Serra is a graphic designer and illustrator who lives in a small village located in North Catalonia, where she was born and raised. She graduated in Advertising and Public Relations and continued her specialization with a master’s degree in Graphic Design in Barcelona. Clàudia’s older sister, who works in molecular biology, encouraged her to make small scientific illustrations to discover fun ways to communicate complex ideas. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Clàudia has been working on a personal project called “Crema cremada” which consists of illustrating Catalan expressions using visual metaphors and posting them on Instagram (@crema_cremada). She considers herself a daydreamer and she finds inspiration in the beautiful nature of her hometown.
Third Place – Sam Koepnick
Samuel Koepnick is a computer scientist and anthropologist. He enjoys designing and training artificial intelligence and playing basketball. He currently resides in Bozeman, Montana where he is an avid hiker and a reluctant skier.
