Bozeman, MT (March 1, 2002) — Golden Helix, Inc. announced today that it has entered into an agreement with INTEC Web & Genome Informatics Corporation to market Golden Helix proprietary software in Japan. INTEC W& G is a leading Japanese bio-informatics and advanced research company offering bioinformatics products to pharmaceutical, diagnostic and biotechnology companies located in Japan. As the second largest pharmaceutical market in the world, Japan has over 580 pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms.
“INTEC W&G is a perfect match for us,” said Christophe Lambert, CEO and President of Golden Helix. “With a proven track record for sales of innovative technology in Japan, and their extensive network of contacts in the Japanese pharmaceutical industry, this alliance will greatly expand our market reach into a country that is second only to the U.S. in pharmaceutical sales.”
Golden Helix Software offers significant benefits to pharmaceutical companies and researchers:
HelixTree® genetics analysis software is used to relate thousands of gene-gene and gene-environment interactions to clinical outcomes. Scientists use it to determine phenotype/genotype relationships, understand the mechanics of human genetic variation, and discover sub-population side effects for existing drugs. HelixTree is a leading software tool in the budding field of pharmacogenetics or "personalized medicine", create new, optimized drugs that maximize efficacy and minimize side effects.
ChemTree® recursive partitioning software facilitates intelligent, target specific compound selection for High Throughput Screening (HTS). The software is also used to study structural activity relationships (SARs) to assist chemists in lead discovery. Through sequential screening, ChemTree can increase hit rates by an order of magnitude while reducing the number of compounds screened by 80%.
“INTEC W & G is pleased to associate with Golden Helix, the leading software company in this very specialized area of pharmacogenetics research,” said Munehiro Sueoka, President of INTEC W&G. “We view this alliance as a fitting opportunity to continue to expand our leadership in providing the best new technologies to our clients in Japan.”
